Message from the 2015 President
As the quote says, “leadership is action, not position”, and while I’m very excited to serve as your president; I’m even more proud of the work our Board of Directors has already done to help us all “Get REAL!” as industry professionals this year. It’s all action; what we do, how we listen and accept the responsibility to participate fully and serve the chapter.
A great deal of work was accomplished at the annual Board of Directors planning retreat, where we candidly discussed past chapter successes, present-day reality and future challenges. What resulted is a leadership vision for 2015 in which we ALL have an essential role to play.
We’re challenging every member; brand new, long-time, active or absent to “Get REAL!” Each chapter offering this year will reflect our strategic objectives, providing you interesting, informative and innovative ways to RE-CONNECT, ENGAGE, ASPIRE and LEARN together with industry peers and partners.
Reconnect – grow and retain membership on a personal level by providing exceptional value through our educational meetings and chapter communications for our members and the local hospitality community.
Engage – encourage members through committee involvement, solicitation of feedback, promote networking, and to bring awareness to the Hospitality Sales and Marketing International brand.
Aspire – establish an environment for membership to achieve professional and personal goals through mentoring, opportunities for certifications/credit education units (CEU’s) and leadership through succession planning.
Learn – become the community leading resource in accessibility for advancement and personal growth by utilizing past leadership in a mentoring and advisory capacity, provide relevant programming through collaboration; use of website tools and established certification programs (CRME, CHDM, CHSE).
This is our Call to Action; one that is so very appropriate for the only professional industry organization focused completely on the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Industry. We want to be YOUR home for personal and professional development. That’s the BIG picture.
Get REAL in 2015,
Wendy Foster, CMP
